In order to bring down a double volume space over a set dining area we decided to incorporate three large lighting pendants. These were to create a more intimate feeling below, bring warmth colour and texture whilst also providing a focal point and sense of space within the large expanse of space around them.
The inspiration for form and texture come from African Weaver Nests. These super sized nests are to be made up of two materials, a metal frame forming the structure into which we intend to weave large strips of timber veneer.
We are currently working up the construction details for these lights and hope to see them manufactured within the next 6 months.
The concept for these lights is derived from African Weaver nests. Through studying these nests we have worked hard to retain their organic yet perfectly formed shapes. These will then be complimented with strips of veneer of varying timber species so as to bring the natural look and feel to life. Once complete each of the three pendants will measure around two meters in diameter & will drop about six meters from the slatted ceiling.
