Nando’s Cork, Ireland

Occupying a former Methodist church, we have been tasked with taking the former church together with an adjacent building, unifying the two into a single 2 level restaurant with double frontage. This has been and continues to be a challenging project that is located within a conservation area, a flood risk zone and has one of the most stringent fire authorities in the UK.

The concept for the design included exposing the original king post trusses, upcycling all the timber floors and cladding that we stripped out and revealing all the natural masonry materials throughout from face brick to large Irish stone walls.

This job was completed in November 2015 and was one of our most challenging projects to date.  Despite all the hurdles thrown at us with regards to Irish regs, planning and the complexities of working in Ireland, the important thing is that the client loves it, and we also believe that the end result is breathtaking & most certainly worth it.
