South Hill Park Hampstead

This beautiful C19th Hampstead home a stone’s throw from Hampstead Heath and Parliament Hill was in need of a thorough modernisation. The 4 storey house with coach house set to the rear were linked by a new basement extension which incorporated living quarters, cinema and wine cellar, plant and extensive storage areas. The original house located in the South Hill Park Conservation Area underwent a complete restoration bringing the accommodation right up to date with a new glazed kitchen extension utilising Crittal style glazing teamed with a classic Smallbone Kitchen. An entire floor was given over to a master bedroom suite with bespoke dressing area and luxury bathroom with slipper copper bath and marble walk-in shower; this mix of contemporary materials used with classic pieces was carried on throughout the house; extensive use of Vileroy & Boch and Water Monopoly brassware and sanitaryware mixed with marble and contemporary stone and timber helped to achieve the clients wish to maintain as much of the original Victorian detailing as possible, certainly a challenge while incorporating air conditioning to all of the bedrooms together with a fully programmable lighting system. The coach house was transformed into a state of the art gymnasium and Moroccan themed steam and shower room all connected by a bespoke metal spiral staircase. Handmade French tiles and mosaic tiles were utilised in the steam room while Moroccan inspired tiling was used for the floors. The property was extended to provide 4,800sq.ft. of premium family accommodation to the very highest standard while maintaining a level of practicality for use by the clients and their young family.
